At Mabati Rolling Mills (MRM), we believe that a building is only as strong as its foundation, and the same is true of a child’s future. On February 6, 2026, we were honored to officially hand over a newly constructed classroom block at Nyanjoro Primary School in Nyahururu, marking a significant milestone in our journey to uplift Kenyan communities.
The story of this project began with a simple request for roofing repairs. However, when our team conducted a site assessment, we realized that a quick fix wouldn’t be enough. The existing structures were, unfortunately, unable to safely support new roofing, posing a risk to the very students we aimed to help. Rather than walking away, we chose to go further. Guided by our commitment to learner safety and long-term impact, MRM expanded the intervention from a minor repair to the construction of a complete, modern classroom block.
This initiative is a core part of the Safal MRM Foundation’s mission to drive sustainable community empowerment. By addressing these critical infrastructure challenges, we are creating a space where pupils and teachers have a safe, dignified, and conducive environment for learning, focus and participation are enhanced, leading to better educational outcomes, and SDG 4, which ensures inclusive, equitable, quality education and lifelong learning for all, is prioritized.
Joined by the school’s headteacher, Mr Peter Njoka, Nyanjoro’s students, local leaders, parents, and Sub-County Education Officer, the handover ceremony was also a celebration of partnership and community. As the Headteacher of Nyanjoro Primary shared, these new classrooms are transformative, providing secure, engaging spaces for effective teaching and student growth.
For us at MRM, this project reflects our belief that our responsibility extends far beyond manufacturing; it’s about building more resilient communities where we live and operate. It underscores our belief that our responsibility extends beyond manufacturing to build stronger, more resilient communities actively. Guided by our CSI pillars of Education and Shelter, we will continue to invest in sustainable futures that provide both the materials for secure shelters and the educational foundation for brighter tomorrows.
